The short version

Tell us what your cargo is worth. If it’s lost or damaged in our custody, we pay up to that amount.

  • Fine art, fragile or one-of-a-kind itemsQuoted per item
What’s included

Clear about what’s covered, and what isn’t.

No surprises after the fact. If something is excluded, it’s listed here.

Covered

  • Loss in transit
  • Damage that happens while the cargo is in our custody
  • Theft from a sealed truck or a sealed hub area
  • Customs seizure caused by a Nauvo misclassification. We cover the duty and the cargo value.

Not covered

  • Items on our restricted list (see the Terms)
  • Packaging that was visibly inadequate at pickup
  • Damage that existed before pickup and wasn’t flagged at the pickup scan
  • Force majeure, such as war, civil unrest or natural disaster
  • Indirect losses, such as missed sales or lost contracts
Filing a claim

Four steps, most decided in 48 hours.

A real ops lead reads your claim, and a real claims lead approves it. There is no outside adjuster for claims under US$20,000.

Insurance questions

The fine print, in plain words.

Still unsure whether your cargo is covered? Ask before you book and we’ll tell you.

When does cover start and stop?

Cover starts when our courier scans your cargo into custody and ends when the recipient signs for it.

What if my cargo is worth more than US$5,000?

Add extra cover when you book. We price it as a percentage of the declared value, based on the type of cargo and the lane, and show it next to your shipping rate.

Who decides my claim?

Our own claims team. We don’t use third-party adjusters for claims under US$20,000, so an ops lead reads your claim and a claims lead approves it.

How is a claim paid?

Approved claims are paid by wire transfer or card refund within five business days.

Who underwrites the cover?

Standard cover is self-funded by Nauvo, which is why small claims move quickly. Extra cover is underwritten through our marine cargo broker, who is named on the insurance certificate you receive at booking.
